Our customer approached us as they were designing an external turret mooring system to the bow of a refurbished tanker, converting it into a Floating Storage & Offloading vessel (FSO) for a new offshore gas field. The processed hydrocarbon fluids come through a single 8″ riser and axial swivel to the vessel from a nearby Gas Platform.
Rotaflow FV Ltd designed and produced a clear bore Swivel with a utility 3 port Swivel attached to supply hydraulic power to a powered safety shut off valve at the point the fluid reached the FSO from the seabed pipeline. The order also included a Leak Recuperation Skid and required co-operation with a electronic slip ring supplier to successfully combine features into one end product to meet the customers requirements.
The turret and mooring system was classed by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).
